I began my tuning career on the East Coast (PA) working in a small ski shop learning how to edge, wax and repair ski bases on a most basic level. Little did I know how much there was to learn about how to make equipment perform better! My love for skiing and adventure led me to Aspen, Colorado, where I took a job at a small “boutique” shop that specialized in ski tunes only. At the Ski Service Center, I learned from a true tuning craftsman, who taught me much more advanced concepts about edge angles, variable base edge beveling, and race ski prep and waxing. It was also at this time that I had the chance to learn from the techs that serviced the Italian men’s national ski team (Alberto Tomba), refining my race ski prep knowledge during the annual World Cup ski events held in Aspen. From there I shifted to high volume tuning and repair for Aspen Sports where I became lead tech for all of the stores in Aspen and Snowmass. I have also had the opportunity to prep skis for the German women’s ski team in the annual 24 hours of Aspen marathon race. During my tenure (15+ years) I have literally worked on THOUSANDS of skis and boards, and have probably seen and worked on just about every kind of equipment in the industry.
